Installing BoaConstructor and wxPython

Postby zahrein » Tue Apr 30, 2013 11:33 pm

I read an article about using Boa constructor and wxpython. IN the article said that we use Synaptic and select both. I dont understand what is "Synaptic". I have not downloaded Boa Constructor and wxpython yet. Just wanted to be clear before i installing and understand the word synaptic.

It was probably talking about this.

Also, it often helps when posts like this reference the actual link they're talking about, although it looks like it might not have turned out to be necessary this time.

Hi,
someone knows if BoaConstructor and wxPython works with Python 3.4?
I get these error messages:

Boa: No python installation found in the registry

wx: No python 2.7 installation found in the registry. Be sure to enter a pathname that places wx on the pythonpath
after change the path to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Python34\Lib\site-packages
Unable to execute file: c:\python directory\python.exe

Thanks

For Python 3 there is no official release for wxPython,
you have to use builds from Phoenix.

You have to use pip to install from the snapshot-builds,
if you dont know about pip read here.

This command to install wxPython for Python34.
pip3 install -U --pre -f http://wxpython.org/Phoenix/snapshot-builds/ wxPython_Phoenix
Test that it work.
Code: Select all
Python 3.4.2 (v3.4.2:ab2c023a9432, Oct  6 2014, 22:15:05)
>>> import wx
>>> wx.version()
'3.0.3.dev1584.964e224 msw (phoenix)'

When it's come to GUI-builder BoaConstructor,wxGlade,wxFormBuilder,
so should you really learn the basic before use them or as me not use GUI-builder at all.
wxPython is easy to learn and i think is the most pythonic og all Python GUI-toolkit.
Start learning from examples/tutorial,there are a lot of tutorials for wxPython.

After download wxPython_Phoenix-3.0.3.dev1584.964e224-cp34-none-win_amd64.whl and extract it with winrar in my python34 folder, it works
Code: Select all

    >>> import wx
    >>> wx.version()
    '3.0.3.dev1584.964e224 msw (phoenix)'

Still the same problem with wxGlade, while wxFormBuilder seems to work.

Thank you
