Pydev question

Postby XndrK » Wed Oct 16, 2013 11:31 pm

Does anyone else use Pydev? I have a question about it.

What is a unit test? What is it?
Proverbs 26:14 describes me a bit too well.

Version: Python 3.4.3

Unit tests are not specific to Pydev.
Due to the reasons discussed here we will be moving to python-forum.io on October 1, 2016.

This forum will be locked down and no one will be able to post/edit/create threads, etc. here from thereafter. Please create an account at the new site to continue discussion.

Unit testing involves writing simple tests that test tiny sections of code to confirm that it gives the correct answers in all cases. You often hear about it in connection with the term TDD; Test Driven Development. The concept is related to programming in general, not specifically to python.

Read up on it here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_testing

Go through this set of tutorials if you want a little bit of experience in test writing:
http://www.diveintopython.net/unit_testing/

I'm generally too lazy to bother with unit testing (as are many hobbyists), but at least I know what i should be doing.
