Hi, I'm new to glade and mostly new to python. Tried this tutorial
got the following error ......
GLib-GObject-ERROR **: cannot create instance of abstract (non-instantiatable) type `GtkBox'
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)
Thought I might have made a typo, tried his zipped code. Same error. I'm using Ubuntu 13.04, if that matters.
I'm just trying to learn how to make a simple GUI app that will execute a command when I click a button. Did the same thing in Gambus years ago to build a quick and dirty app to help teach my daughter the alphabet. I would like to use glade or some other RAD tool to do the same. In gambus, I just used EXEC and it was pretty simple.
Is there something similar in python ?
AS I understand it, I first have to create a GUI with glade, then write a .py python script that uses the .glade file, which needs to be in the same directory. Seems needlessly complex for the simple task I have in mind. A simple grid of buttons that EXEC a command when pressed.
Is there a better tool out there for my simple needs ? Maybe better suited for a novice ?
Thanks for the help, sorry for the rambling post.....
