using wxpython, IDEL and command mode issues

This may not be the best forum section. If not please let me know and I can repost.

After downloading source code (wxPython) from a book web site and then using the archive manager
to extract the files (including the directories) and I list the contents the directories show up in the
terminal/command mode listings as colors = green background and foreground color as blue. I interpret
that as a shared directory (?).

The problem I am having is that I can not use “./name.py” to execute a python script. When using this
this method I get a error message: “No such file or directory”

Also, I can not execute the script from the Ubuntu (12.04) GUI file menu. This is after I insure the file has permission's to allow execution. This seems to work as expected on other python script files.

I CAN execute the file with “python name.py” as well as execute the script when executing from python's IDLE .

I can't figure if this is an issue with the extracting the zip archive and how it is handled or if it is something else :-(

Please help !
