What is Project Euler?

Postby Seanliu » Tue Apr 15, 2014 6:06 pm

As you can see, my question is:
What is Project Euler? Is it like BOINC, or is it just for fun?

Is there any easy ones that I can try (I have been on the 'challenges' page and all of them were too hard for me)
and what is it about?

Thanks!
The CoDeR!

It's a collection of math (often number theory) problems that programming can be used to solve. The first 50 are mostly reasonable, and many of them are trivial. Many of them build on previous, so you should start with the lower numbers.

Did somebody just post on the Project Euler subforum?
Proverbs 26:14 describes me a bit too well.

Hey, it's the 8th topic here.
But, yeah, it's looking like this subforum is pretty useless.
We used to get a lot more euler questions on the old forum. I guess it just stopped being as popular.

I think part of the idea too was that people would ask a question that was from PE, but not say it, and then people would accidentally produce spoilers. When this is here explicitly it's just a magnet for that kinda stuff.
