Question About Python & MS Word

Postby maestromandan » Wed Oct 16, 2013 1:58 pm

I'm trying to figure out whether Python is suitable for making a tool for moving text from one Word document to a new one automatically. I know Python can do all of the necessary functions, but it has to be able to read and write to .doc & .docx

Does anyone know if that's at all feasible? I've tried all the usual google avenues plus asking some friends, but they have been of little help. Attached is a rough flowchart outline.

I don't use Windows or MS products, but I would guess that you want to use win32com. I believe it gives you an API for interacting with MS Office. I could be wrong, but this might point you in the right direction.
