Very rudimentary level stuff as I don't have any experience in the area. I'm just interested to find out how to put calculation intensive (or just plain slow stuff) on a background thread/subprocess while the main process still moves forward in the mean time. I have been experimenting with the multiprocessing module but haven''t dove deeply into it at all yet.

A networking tutorial would be nice (that forum doesn't get much love)

Lambdas

Postby XndrK » Fri Jul 12, 2013 11:44 pm

There should be a tutorial all about lambdas. I've been trying to understand them using IDLE's built-in tutorial, and I've been crossing my eyes ever since. >_<

Is there a way we could make it a list of topics instead of it being just one huge THIS TUTORIAL WANTED page? Not that anyone actually does that -- kudos to everyone, but it's still a bit cluttered here, and there needs to be individual threads to specific requests.

I believe individual threads would convolute the forum. At least that is my opinion. Maybe others disagree. This thread was started with the idea that users like yourself, request a tutorial, and we the mods, change the initial post to include what you want. Then when someone wants to write a tutorial, they just go to the OP and see what is being requested.

So i added lambda to the tutorial requests. The first post constantly gets changed as we add/remove/make/requested tutorials

Tutorial request

Postby pythonforever » Fri Jun 06, 2014 9:45 pm

I apologize in advance for posting this in general section vs where I wanted to post originally in tutorial request section. I did not see any way to add another request so if there is I am wrong sorry.

I wanted to add a request, if its possible a tutorial on unittest, nose and pytest. I am trying to wrap my head around the proper way of doing testing and having some difficulties. I do not have a particular question to ask just wanted to read a more explanatory tutorial. I know that its an important part and must be understood.

Thank you
