Meta section

There should be a "Meta" section in the Off Topic category.

metaprogramming is an advanced topic. I dont feel it heeds its own section. I dont know about others. Plus, why would you say off topic?

I meant meta as in "meta-forum," not "metaprogramming."

Talk about forum issues.

ah,

Between suggestions and the bar, i dont think its needed. It would seem more like clutter. Simplicity in the forum makes it easy for new people to post. It also removes the hassle of searching through the forums sections/threads/sub-categories to find a relavant forum. A perfect example of this is the ubuntu forums. There are categories, with sub categories, with even sub-sub-categories. It makes it a pain to post, especially when you get hassled for posting in the wrong section. Because of this when i post there, i just post in beginners, with the first line "sorry if this post is in the wrong section". I do this just because i dont want to take the time to look through all the sections to find where i should post each time based on my question topic. While also not wanting to get hassled for posting in a relavent section but not the "best" section.

But i dont know, maybe others would disagree.

I think this thread in its self shows that Meta == Talk about forum issues == Suggestions.

Meta section

Where would I put a meta-discussion (not just suggestions) thread? I know this is a duplicate of an older thread, but I didn't get a good answer last time.

Bar would be a good place if it is incredibly tangential. General discussions is also a good fit if the material is still python/programming related.

I've moved the posts from your new thread to your old thread. If your original answer was inadequate, you should have persisted there rather than waiting months and then bringing it up again as clutter.

As for the actual question, there isn't enough meta discussion to warrant it. If I scroll past the top bar of the index page to just see the sections, they all together barely fit on one page for me. No need to stretch it out more.

So, what is your meta-discussion about, actually?

I want to read that book. I also want to (re)read Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. Wonderful work.
